On IIMC faculty since 1995 Prof. Parmar (b.1953) has varied interests and diverse experience in media and education. With an educational background in Journalism and History, he began his career in communication research and contributed in the field of Folk Media, Book Publishing, Communication Design and Cultural Education. Before joining IIMC as Professor in 1995, he worked with the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, New Delhi, as Director/Joint Director/Deputy Director and Sangeet Natak Academi, New Delhi, the National Academy of Performing Arts as Programme Officer. Presently, he heads training of Indian Information Service officers and conducts courses in the following areas: Visual Journalism/ Communication, Multimedia, Graphic Communication, Photography/ Video Production, Creativity, Folk Media, Digital Communication/ Online media, Editing & Book Publishing and Communication Skills. Prof. Parmar has a keen interest in social, cultural and creative issues involving the media. He has done extensive research and documentation in the field of folk media and developed media resources for non-formal education in the form of audiovisual productions and publications. He has authored several research papers and five books on developing communication skills. |
